Sophomore forward Tyrone Hanson has been dismissed from the Nevada men’s basketball team, coach Mark Fox said at a Tuesday press conference.

Hanson was involved with the confrontation at a party on Saturday night where three people were shot and killed, including University of Nevada, Reno student and former Tau Kappa Epsilon president Derek Jensen.

Saturday night started with an “awesome,” student-filled Halloween party in southwest Reno. As Saturday night turned to Sunday morning the same party ended in a shooting that left three dead, including former Tau Kappa Epsilon president Derek K. Jensen.

Itzaina, PENTA Group’s project manager for the CSU, said his role has been overseeing the building of the union, from working with university officials to coordinating people moving furniture in. He became project manager in May 2006, a month after PENTA took over the project.

A University of Nevada, Reno employee reported a missing portable flash drive containing the names and Social Security numbers of about 16,000 current and former UNR students on Oct. 19, officials said Monday. The tiny, one-gigabyte flash drive also contained the GPAs and SAT/ACT test scores for any student who enrolled in UNR as an incoming freshman in the fall semesters from 2001 to 2007, university spokeswoman Jane Tors said.

Three of eight Flipside programmers have already spent or requested to spend more than 50 percent of their yearly budget halfway through the first semester, potentially jeopardizing spring programming events, said student Sen. Sean McDonald.

About 50 empty combat boots lay on top of a hill at Dolores Park in San Francisco Saturday. The boots represented soldiers who have died in the Iraq war like 18-year-old Daniel Parker, 19-year-old Brian Cutter and 20-year-old Karina Laus.

A friend’s beach birthday party in the summer of 1999 exposed Teal Ericson to a sport she would come to love almost as much as family. The idea didn’t cross her mind that she would later go on to play in a premier club, become a high school standout and earn a full-ride scholarship to the University of Nevada, Reno.

As expected, Nevada beat last place Idaho Saturday to improve to .500, but the game left much to be desired on both the offensive and defensive end. Coming into the game, Idaho’s pass defense was ranked 101 out of 119 Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) teams, but the Wolf Pack managed 137 yards and no touchdowns through three quarters.
