The Nevada volleyball team defeated Idaho in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, N.M.
The fourth-seeded Wolf Pack (16-10) won in four games over the fifth-seeded Vandals (13-15) to move on to Friday’s semifinal match with defending champ Hawaii. Nevada beat Idaho 30-22, 31-33, 30-16 and 30-28.
Karly Sipherd led four players in double figures in kills as the senior middle blocker tallied 22. Teal Ericson recorded 21 kills and Allison Hernandez had 11 kills and 15 digs for a double-double. Lindsay Baldwin finished with 10 digs, five block assists and one block solo.
Ashley Miller dished out 57 assists and Dana Henry posted a match-high 23 digs in her first start at libero. Nicole Link had 17 digs.
Nevada hit .242 and while Idaho was .140 in the match. The Wolf Pack won the blocking battle, 13.5 to 11.
Hawaii, ranked No. 11 in the nation, defeated Boise State in three games after the Broncos won in five games over Louisiana Tech. Two semifinal matches are slated for Friday and the championship match is Saturday night. The tournament winner earns the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
