The Nevada football team was shutout for the first time since 1980 when the New Mexico Lobos beat the Wolf Pack, 23-0 in Albuquerque in the New Mexico Bowl.The Wolf Pack had 198 total offensive yards with 137 passing and 61 rushing.Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick completed 13-of-31 passes for 137 yards and no touchdowns. Running back Luke Lippincott ran for 40 yards on 10 carries.After giving up 14 points in the first quarter, the Nevada defense held New Mexico to nine points and blocked two field goals. The Nevada offesnse couldn’t get anything going, completing 3-of-15 third downs and 10 first downs compared to the Lobos’ 26. The Wolf Pack (6-7) has lost its last two bowl games. The last time the Wolf Pack was shut out was in 1980 when it lost to Weber State, 10-0. The Lobos (9-4) won their first bowl game since the 1961 Aviation Bowl. In other news, the Wolf Pack men’s basketball team (7-4) won at Northern Iowa, 55-52.

Back to the drawing board this spring. Tough game gents.

They will be back. It was a rebuilding year with two young and exciting quarterbacks. Next years schedule will be tough though.

This was a frustrating game to be certain. Next year may be make or break year for Ault and staff. Time to get some fan energy in the stadium.
