Nevada sophomore JaVale McGee signed an agent Saturday and will enter the NBA Draft, Nevada officials confirmed.
McGee, a 7-foot center and second team All-Western Athletic Conference center, told the Web site DraftExpress.net that he hired NFL agent Eugene Parker, which eliminates his collegiate eligibility with the Wolf Pack.
“(I) wanted to get it off my mind and start working hard,” McGee told the Web site.
McGee told the Web site that his mother, Pamela, had been talking to NBA general managers and they told her that McGee would likely be a mid to late-first round pick.
Media Relations Director Rhonda Lundin said that the university will make a formal announcement on Monday.
McGee averaged 14.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season, helping the Wolf Pack to the College Basketball Invitational.
Some draft services have McGee as a top-15 pick in the NBA Draft, with some saying he has the ideal size and athleticism for a big man to compete in the league.

This is just stupid. Mcgee is going to get drafted late second round just like nick and ramon. he will be signed for 427,000 the bare minimum, just like them, and then be a flop just like them. The smart thing to do would have been to play next season, have an awesome year will all our returning players plus luke babbitt and then go to the draft. Its obvious Mcgee is just interested in the money and doesnt care about the school. Good luck… you’ll regret this mcgee.

It’s too bad he left. Remember last year when every mock draft had him going in the first round and then he dropped somehow the day of the draft to 33rd? McGee’s just stupid to think with what he showcased this year that he’ll be a guaranteed first round pick. But I do wish him the best of luck. Prove me wrong JaVale and average 20 ppg in the NBA. You owe Nevada fans that much after you lost the San Jose game for us with your tantrum and technical.
