Wolf Pack wins WAC championship

The Wolf Pack clinched its first Western Athletic Conference championship Saturday after sweeping a three-game series at San Jose State.

Nevada won 4-1, 3-2 and 5-4.

The Wolf Pack broke a single season record for wins this weekend, winning its 40th game on Saturday. Nevada’s previous record for wins was in 2004 when it won 38 games.

Noelle Micka surpassed Jiliane Hartfiel’s 2006 single season record in hits (69). Micka ended the season with 72 hits.  Micka has 23 multiple-hit games on the season.

Nevada flew to Hawaii yesterday to compete in the 2008 WAC tournament.
