The University Studies Abroad Consortium will host a passport fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 17. The event will take place in Room 5 of the Virginia Street Gym.
The fair is open to all University of Nevada, Reno students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Proof of citizenship and proof of identity are required to get a passport.
Original birth certificates, consular reports of births abroad, naturalization certificates or certificates of citizenship are all acceptable proofs of citizenship. A valid, current government issued ID or a naturalization certificate can be used as proof of identification. A university student ID card is not a valid proof of identity.
Applicants can bring two copies of a passport photograph or have their picture taken for free at the event.
The passport costs $100 for applicants older than 16. One payment, the Passport Application Fee, is $75 and must be in the form of a check or money order payable to the United States Department of State. The other payment, the Execution Fee, is $25 and must be in the form of a check or money order payable to the City of Sparks. Payments are due at the event.
