In the biggest upset in Nevada women’s basketball history, the Wolf Pack beat No. 7 Louisville 85-82 Saturday to win the four-team Nugget Classic tournament championship.

The Nevada football team came back in dramatic fashion Saturday for a 35-31 win against Louisiana Tech in its final regular season game of the year.

The Wolf Pack clung to a 71-63 victory Friday against Northern Iowa in the first round of the four-team Nugget Classic tournament.

Louisville, ranked seventh in the nation, beat Alabama 73-56 Friday at Lawlor Events Center to advance and play the Nevada women’s basketball team in the championship round of the Nugget Classic today.

The Wolf Pack had to overcome strep throat, a formidable opponent and an extremely poor shooting night Wednesday against Pacific.
Just under five minutes into the second half it looked like there was a chance.
Nevada led 30-27, but the Tigers went on a 15-4 run and never looked back in their 67-59 win at the Lawlor Events Center.

James Michael Biela, 27, of Sparks, was arrested Tuesday evening as a suspect in the abduction and murder of Brianna Denison and in connection with a Dec. 16 sexual assault near the University of Nevada, Reno, police said Wednesday.
