Pack will host Louisville in Saturday’s championship game

Louisville, ranked seventh in the nation, beat Alabama 73-56 Friday at Lawlor Events Center to advance to the championship round of the Nugget Classic to play the Nevada women’s basketball team today.

Louisville won with a dominant rebounding performance and hot shooting from senior Angel McCoughtry.

Louisville (5-0) out-rebounded Alabama (3-2) 52 to 34 overall and 23 to nine on offensive boards.

McCoughtry, a small forward, shot 13 of 26 from the floor and led all scorers with 28 points.

In the game immediately preceding Louisville’s win, Nevada beat Northern Iowa 71-63 to advance to the championship game.

Louisville will play Nevada 7 p.m. Saturday for the Nugget Classic Championship, while Alabama will play Northern Iowa at 5 p.m. in the consolation game.
