Nevada men’s basketball head coach David Carter announced Tuesday that Keith Brown will join the Wolf Pack men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach.

Brown spent the last two seasons at Seattle University where he helped lead the Redhawks to a 21-8 record this year. The victory total was the team’s most since the 1984-85 season.

“We’re very excited to have Keith Brown join our staff,”Carter said. “He will be a great asset to our program because of his knowledge of the game and he gives us another good recruiter in the Los Angeles area.”

Before coaching at Seattle, Brown was an assistant coach at the University of Portland from 2002-06. From 1998-2002, Brown was an assistant coach and physical education instructor at El Camino College in Torrance, Calif.

The Los Angeles native earned his bachelor of science degree in sociology from Hampton University in 1993 and a master of education degree with emphasis in physical education from Azusa Pacific University in 2000.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the University of Nevada family,”Brown said. “I look forward to working with coach Carter, his staff and the players in this program. I’ve known coach Carter for many years. He’s been a mentor to me in this business.”

Brown will join Carter on the staff as well as associate head coach Doug Novsek who has been at Nevada since 2006.
