Nevada softball notches second-consecutive WAC regular-season title
By splitting a doubleheader with San Jose State Saturday, the Nevada softball team wrapped up its second-consecutive Western Athletic Conference regular-season championship.
The Wolf Pack won the first game 5-3 in a grueling 14 innings and dropped the second match 1-0 in 10 innings against the Spartans to finish the regular season 35-15 and 15-5 in the WAC. Nevada shared the regular-season title with Fresno State who closed out the season by winning its last five games to finish at 32-18 and 15-5 in the conference.
Despite having a better overall record, the Wolf Pack will be the second seed for the WAC Tournament. Fresno State will be the No. 1 seed because it won the head-to-head season series against Nevada.
The Wolf Pack will play No. 5 seed New Mexico State May 6 at 4:30 p.m. The tourney will be held May 6-9 at Fresno, Calif.
