Students interested in performing in the Nevada Repertory Company’s productions of “Romeo and Juliet,”or “Ubu the King”this fall must audition at 7 p.m. Aug. 25 in the Redfield Proscenium Theatre.

To audition for “Romeo and Juliet,”students must prepare a one-to-two minute Shakespeare monologue. Humorous or dramatic scripts are acceptable. Material for cold readings will be available, however, memorized monologues are preferred.

Students interested in a role in “Ubu The King”must prepare a one-minute monologue and also perform a satirical version of the monologue chosen for “Romeo and Juliet.”The parody may be memorized or improvised.

Members of the Nevada Repertory Company suggest that prospective actors mock Shakespeare’s use of iambic pentameter, “over the top”tragic performances, use of contemporary references and other common themes.
