Starting football player arrested
Nevada running back Vai Taua was arrested last Friday on an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor charge, according to the University of Nevada Reno Police Department.

Taua, a junior who led the Western Athletic Conference in rushing last year, will not miss any games or be demoted from his starting position due to the incident, Chad Hartley, the associate director of Nevada’s media services, said.
The 20-year-old was arrested for allegedly failing to provide proof of registration on a bench warrant from the city of Reno.
At the football team’s practice Wednesday, Taua said he had paid the fine for the charge and “everything’s handled.”
“It didn’t seem very serious,” said UNRPD Cmdr. Todd Renwick. “But any time there’s a warrant, we have to take that person into custody. It’s an order from a judge. You can’t really not arrest someone in that situation.”
