Speedy summary: Missouri vs. Nevada turning points
First Quarter: After forcing Missouri to punt on its first possession, Nevada running back Vai Taua muffed the punt return and the Tigers recovered on Nevada’s 42-yard line.
The Wolf Pack held the Tigers to a field goal. Later, set up by a 19-yard run by wide receiver Chris Wellington to Missouri’s two-yard line, running back Courtney Randall scored a touchdown to give Nevada a 7-3 lead.
Second Quarter: Missouri had a potential field goal taken away with a sack by defensive end Dontay Moch.
On its next possession, Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert hit Danario Alexander for a 31-yard touchdown to go up 12-7.
The Wolf Pack had two chances to score with less than two minutes left in the half. Wide receiver Brandon Wimberly was wide open deep in Missouri’s territory but dropped a perfect pass from quarterback Colin Kaepernick around the Tigers’ 20-yard line.
Third Quarter: Nevada opened the second half with a nine play, 52-yard drive, capped off by a 11-yard touchdown run by quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The Wolf Pack failed on the two-point conversion and led 13-12.
Missouri answered in a big way. On its second play of its ensuing possession, Blaine Gabbert hit Dana Alexander for a 74-yard touchdown to take an 18-13 lead.
Fourth Quarter: The Wolf Pack, now down 21-13, had the ball on Missouri’s four-yard line. Running back Luke Lippincott fumbled the ball on Missouri’s three yard-line and the Tigers recovered.
After the fumble recovery, Missouri drove 97 yards to take a 28-13 lead with a little over ten minutes remaining in the game. The touchdown was set up by a 42-yard run by Derrick Washington to Nevada’s six-yard line.
