FIRST QUARTER: Nevada leads 14-0

There wasn’t much that didn’t go the Wolf Pack’s way in the first quarter.

After winning the toss, Nevada deferred to the Rebels, giving the University of Nevada, Las Vegas the first possession.

The Wolf Pack defense stiffened up after giving up a first down and forced a punt. On the punt, Nevada linebacker Albert Rosette broke through the Rebels’ line and got a hand on the kick. The block was the Wolf Pack’s first blocked kick since 2004. After the block and getting the ball at midfield, Nevada marched down the field and scored on a 12-yard run up the middle by running back Luke Lippincott. The touchdown was Lippincott’s first since Aug. 30 2008 against Grambling State.

After kicking off the UNLV, the Wolf Pack defense forced a three-and-out, giving its offense the ball on the Nevada 26-yard line.

Again, the Wolf Pack moved easily down the field and this time scored on a 10-yard dash to the endzone by running back Mike Ball. The scored was the first of Ball’s collegiate career.

However, on the last drive of the first quarter, UNLV moved the ball deep into Nevada territory. The Rebels will have the ball on the Wolf Pack 12-yard line when the secon quarter begins.

UNLV

QB Mike Clausen: 7-of-10, 82 yards

RB Channing Trotter: one rush, negative one yard

WR Michael Johnson: two catches, 26 yards

WOLF PACK

QB Colin Kaepernick: 4-of-5, 53 yards

RB Mike Ball: six carries, 37 yards, one touchdown

WR Brandon Wimberly: one catch, 16 yards

SECOND QUARTER: Tied 21-21

The quarter was dominated by blunders from Nevada. The Wolf Pack fumbled three times, all three of which were recovered by UNLV.

The Rebels took advantage of the miscues, scoring 14 points off of them to pull the game even. Rebels running back Channing Trotter scored a pair of touchdowns in the quarter, a two-yarder and a one-yarder just before halftime.

In the midst of Nevada’s fumbles, running back Mike Ball scored another touchdown, this one a one-yarder.

The Wolf Pack will get the ball after deferring to the second half.

Storming the field was the worst idea ever. UNR fans get excited for nothing.

Eric seems a little bitter. Maybe this is the reason. He also goes by the name rebels2k3. This move last year was not his best decision.
