Women’s basketball: Moore’s career best leads team to win in Nugget Classic
Shavon Moore scored a career-high 18 points and added 13 rebounds as Nevada defeated Columbia 64-47 Friday to advance to the title game of the Nugget Classic. Moore went 8-for-14 from the field and pulled down six offensive boards.
Moore was aided by Nevada guard Nicole Williams who scored a career-high 14 points of 6-for-9 shooting.
The Lions led 10-4 with about 16 minutes to play in the first half, but the Wolf Pack went on a 13-6 run to take its first lead of the game at 17-16. Nevada held a 32-26 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Nevada pulled away, extending its lead to 14 after a three pointer by point guard Amanda Johnson, who finished with five points and three rebounds.
Nevada will play West Virginia at 7 p.m. tonight in the championship game of the Classic. West Virginia beat Iowa 69-66 Friday night to advance to the championship game. Columbia will face Iowa at 5 p.m. in the third place game.

KEY TO THE GAME: With Nevada trailing 10-2 with 16:53 left in the game, Moore took over. She scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds in the next 10:34 to propel the Wolf Pack to a lead it would never surrender.
