Group art show accepts submissions
The Holland Project will be accepting submissions for a collaborative group art project with a monochromatic theme until March 8.
“This is an open group show,” Van Pham, Holland Project’s arts and events director, said. “It’s open to sculpture, paintings or any kind of visual art.”
The Monochromatic exhibit, which is set to run March 15 to April 23, will allow any art medium and any theme, as long as the pieces are monochromatic. The work will be juried by the Holland Project gallery committee before it is accepted into the group exhibition. There is no entry fee, and the artwork may be marked for sale at the exhibition.
“We wanted it to be an easy introductory thing,” Pham said. “We chose a really easy theme so that anyone can feel comfortable showing here in an unintimidating space that feels approachable. They’re always welcome.”
Ready-to-hang art must be dropped off at the Holland Project Headquarters, 30 Cheney St., between noon and 6 p.m. March 8, in order to be considered for the show. Artists whose work is accepted into the exhibition will be notified between March 9 to 12, and installation for the show is set to begin on March 13.
The organization is also accepting submissions for its second annual three-minute film competition. The short films should be on a DVD and sent to the Holland Project before March 15. After entries are juried, the top ten films will be screened at the Nevada Museum of Art during its Teen Art Night on March 26. Additionally, some of the winning films may also be shown online and on television as part of a collaboration with local broadcaster KNPB.
The Holland Project, which is a local non-profit arts organization geared toward involving young artists in the community, plans to host similar group shows regularly. Pham said that the events will be scheduled every few months and encourages students to apply for group shows.
