The Nevada men’s basketball team will not be playing in their games against North Texas on Dec. 4 and against UT Arlington on Dec. 7 because of COVID-19 outbreaks.

Steve Alford, head coach, announced Tuesday morning he was positive for COVID-19. He did not attend the Tuesday night game against Pepperdine, and was not going to be at the North Texas or UT Arlington games this weekend.

The men had traveled to South Dakota for the Crossover Classic and one other team who participated has also been seeing COVID-19 cases rise. Washington’s game against Arizona on Dec. 2 has been postponed.

The other two teams from the tournament will continue to play in their games scheduled for the week. George Mason has a game that is still scheduled to be played on Dec. 4 against Old Dominion University. South Dakota State also plans to play against Minnesota Morris on Dec. 3.

Nevada’s game against University of Minnesota Duluth at home on Dec. 15 is still set to happen as of now. Alford will be done with his ten day quarantine and should be back on the court.
