The Brushfire hosted a bash to usher in its 60th edition along with a new era for the publication Friday night in the Joe Crowley Student Union Great Room.

“Martian Child” is another box office dud that should have skipped the theater and gone straight to DVD. Shortly after losing his wife, science fiction writer David Coleman (John Cusack, “Must Love Dogs”) adopts Dennis, with hopes of healing his emotional scars.

After a suicide bombing kills an American in North Africa, the CIA is given the responsibility of cleaning up the mess. With no leads the government kidnaps an Egyptian-born U.S. citizen Anwar El-Ibrahimi (Omar Metwalley, “Munich”), who they claim had contact with the terrorist group involved in the bombing.

Set in 1980s Brooklyn, brothers Bobby (Joaquin Phoenix, “Walk the Line”) and Joseph (Mark Wahlberg, “Shooter”) live on opposite sides of the law. Bobby is a club manager with a drug habit, while Joseph is a cop, just like their dad, Burt (Robert Duvall, “Lucky You”).

Huddled close to the stage, about a hundred high school students clad in tight jeans and hoodies waited for the Plain White T’s and Boys Like Girls to take the stage.
