College is a time to prepare for the real world, and although there’s an every-man-for-himself kind of attitude, this period can be rather…charming.
Pizza, face painting, bounce houses, “Jingle Bell Rock” and Santa Claus highlighted the Sixth Annual Children’s Holiday Part at the Boys and Girls Club Saturday.
Community volunteers and Circle K members said they worked at the party to help make some children’s holiday a little brighter.
“They’ve had a smile on their faces all day,” said Peter Stockwell, an education major and Circle K member.
The 40 volunteers set up the event and played and interacted with the children all afternoon.
UNR student Christina Thomas plans to keep her heritage alive through language, song and dance.
Reed High School football jerseys hung at the door and hip hop music shook the walls as friends and family of Derek “DJ” Jensen danced the night away at the Dance 4 DJ fundraiser Thursday. The event, held at the Silver Legacy Hotel and Casino, raised $1,242 dollars for the Derek Jensen Memorial Scholarship fund through Sierra Pacific Federal Credit Union in Jensen’s name.
The Rev. Denise Cordova gave students insight and laughter as part of the Nevada Speaker Series, discussing “Homosexuality in Christiandom” in the Pine Lounge Tuesday.
