The Brushfire Literary Arts Journal will host a release party Friday to celebrate the publication of their 61st edition.
The release party, A Wonderland of Art and Words, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center in the Graduate Student and Faculty Lounge.
This will be the first opportunity for students to pick up this semester’s edition of The Brushfire.

Dyer-Redner is one of only a few American Indian students, making it even more difficult to transition from life on the reservation to college life. Out of 16,867 students enrolled at UNR this fall, 182 are listed as American Indian/Alaskan Native. With about 1 percent of the total population, they are the smallest minority on campus.

Lombardi Recreation Center officials want to increase its semester and annual membership fees by $10 beginning fall 2009. The Board of Regents will vote on the proposal at its meeting in December.
Under the new system, undergraduate and graduate students would pay $75 per semester, classified faculty would pay $80 and professors and administrators would pay $95.

The Department of Residential Life, Housing and Food Services is taking steps to reduce waste and help the environment.

Initiatives include reducing the number of paper bags used in the D-C-Store, recycling materials like cardboard, glass, plastic and aluminum, turning discarded items into compost soil and buying food from local suppliers to decrease shipping distances.
