Nicholas Delehanty, 25, looks like a student as he sits at a table in Starbucks, engrossed in his Mac laptop. Delehanty, however, is an instructor of philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno. In his free time, Delehanty likes to apply his philosophy to music and comedy.
Delehanty used to be in an up-and-coming band called Da Capo that sounds like an “‘80s post-punk sound†he said. Da Capo, like many of Delehanty's previous bands, broke up after going on tour.

African drumming, fire spinning and aura readings created the mood at the River School fundraiser Saturday night. The scene was low-key and casual, with DJs spinning techno records and people dancing with unlit poi and socks with tennis balls stuffed inside, the customary practice device for fire spinning.

The dining room of Naan and Kabab has a feeling of stepping into a cozy, cultural side of Reno. The bright, colorful building decorated in blues and yellows invites customers into a cozy little corner of South Virginia Street. The dining area is small and intimate and the table settings are decorative. The tables offer a new spice—the red-colored and lemony Sumak—in addition to the plain salt and pepper shakers.
