Outside of the Joe Crowley Student Union, Brian Parcon is one of the volunteers repeating one question:

“Have you voted yet?”

The 18-year-old political science major knows historically, young voters don’t turn out to vote. He knows the pundits predict apathy from his age group.

But he thinks they’re wrong.

More than 5,000 people showed up to the Pony Express Pavilion in Carson City to see the Republican vice presidential hopeful in her first Nevada appearance.

Despite decline in spirit, student leaders want to bring back campus customs.

“I’m not reinventing the wheel, but these are things students need to know,” James said.

“Criminals look for opportunity,” he said. “The less opportunity that we give someone, the better it is and the less likely that they actually try to do something.”
