Two sexual assault victims and girl who was with Brianna Denison the night of her disappearance testified in Reno Justice Court as part of the preliminary hearing of James Michael Biela. Biela is charged with three counts of sexual assault, and one count of murder, kidnapping and attempted sexual assault.

Police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred on campus during the weekend and was reported Sunday, according to the campus police blotter. The University of Nevada, Reno Police department said that the victim and suspect were acquaintances.
No further information could be released because the case is still under investigation, UNRPD Director Adam Garcia, said.

Critics say the senate is not producing legislation at the rate it should and the senators have a misunderstanding of the rules. The senate gave $23,821 out of the ASUN budget, which is supported by a student fee, to pay the salaries of the 22 senators.

With black gowns and decorated mortarboards, hundreds of soon-to-be graduates filed into Lawlor Events Center for Saturday morning’s commencement ceremony. With the stadium filled with family and friends, the students craned necks and waved frantically toward proud faces in the stands.
The university granted degrees to 1, 170 students in December, many of whom participated in the ceremony.

LAS VEGAS - Board of Regents Chair Michael Wixom announced Friday morning that the board would hold a special meeting about the budget shortfall next week, postponing the discussion for a second time. The meeting will include discussion of a suggested tuition increase at Nevada System of Higher Education institutions, including the University of Nevada, Reno.

LAS VEGAS - A sea of students from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas protested possible tuition increase at Thursday’s Board of Regents meeting and pledged to continue fighting the possibility.

The student senate passed a resolution Wednesday night against a proposed tuition increase. The Board of Regents will discuss the increase at their meeting this week. The resolution, originally written by former senator Taylor R. Anderson and sponsored by Sens. Priscilla Acosta and Jennifer Richards underwent many amendments before being passed.

Students had more than just pizza on their minds when they attended Pizza With the President, a question and answer question with university administration that centered around budget cuts.
Students who showed up for the event in the Joe Crowley Student Union Tuesday instead found themselves at Pizza with the Provost with Provost Marc Johnson because Milton Glick got tied up in a meeting with the Board of Regents.

The Senior Scholars Award ceremony honored seven soon-to-be graduates Tuesday for their outstanding achievements in their fields.
Rachel Baek, Janine Stone, Jenna Hayes, Gregory Kraus, Daphne Bateman, Arash Mosaleh and Ryan Katausky were recognized at the event.

Panda Express and Sushi might open in the spring 2009 semester next to Villa Italia on the second floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union.
The Board of Regents will review the request during the Thursday and Friday meetings in Las Vegas. Panda Express will offer sushi in addition to its regular menu. Villa Italia is scheduled to open Monday.
