There will be an open question and answer forum with Ian MacKaye, frontman of Washington, D.C. bands Minor Threat and Fugazi, at 6 p.m. Sunday in room 100 of the Jot Travis Building. MacKaye will answer questions about the bands and his independent record label, Dischord Records.
Boreal Mountain Resort opened last week, making it the first of the Tahoe area resorts to open this season. Early season lift tickets are $30 per day for adults.
Other resorts opening soon include Mt. Rose (Thursday), Heavenly (Nov. 21), Northstar-at-Tahoe (Nov. 22) and Alpine Meadows (Nov. 26).

University of Nevada, Reno student Luis Sedano-Felix was shot and killed Halloween morning on Smithridge Drive, according to the Reno Police Department.
Sedano-Felix, 19, and his cousin Jesus Garibay, 20, were crossing out graffiti near a party where several gang members were in attendance, Sgt. Kim Bradshaw of RPD said. Several gang members approached the cousins and 17-year-old Angel Joel Garcia allegedly fired several rounds from a handgun, killing Sedano-Felix at the scene.
