James Michael Biela, 27, of Sparks, was arrested Tuesday evening as a suspect in the abduction and murder of Brianna Denison and in connection with a Dec. 16 sexual assault near the University of Nevada, Reno, police said Wednesday.

White Ribbon Week hit close to home for some University of Nevada, Reno students while the weeklong campaign raised awareness about domestic violence. The campaign put on events like a dance and a movie night.

Tanner Thetford has a mission: spread the word. Thetford, a student at the University of Nevada, Reno, leads the UNR chapter of CHANGE Collegian Network, an evangelical Christian group, with the hope that others will change as he did a few years ago.
A former atheist, Thetford now reads his Bible every chance he gets and slips gospel tracts — paper with Christian messages — into students’ hands during outreach events.
