Nevada junior tennis player Laurent Garcin lost Saturday in the second day of the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas. Garcin, who was ranked No. 94 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, was the only member of the Wolf Pack to compete in the invitational.

Nevada senior Caroline Bailly and junior Maria Mizyuk have earned preseason rankings by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The ITA ranked Mizyuk and Bailly the No. 26 pair in the nation. In singles, Mizyuk is ranked No. 58 while Bailly is ranked No. 91.

The Nevada swimming & diving team was honored Saturday at halftime of the Wolf Pack’s football game against Texas Tech. The team, coached by Mike Richmond, was presented with their 2007-08 trophy for winning their second Western Athletic Conference Championship in a row.

Four Nevada alumni hit home runs Wednesday in Major League Baseball. Ryan Church, an outfielder for the New York Mets, Kevin Kouzmanoff, a third baseman for San Diego, Chris Dickerson an outfielder for Cincinnati and Joe Inglett, an infielder for Toronto, all went yard on Wednesday.

After weeks of trying, the Nevada rugby team has finally scheduled a game with UNLV.

The Wolf Pack will travel to Las Vegas Sept. 27, the same weekend as Nevada and UNLV’s football game, to renew the interstate rivalry.

University of Nevada, Reno sophomore Brock Stassi spent this summer as a member of the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox, a professional-grade community baseball team, in the Horizon Air Summer Baseball Series. The Horizon Air Summer Series is an eleven-week competition among teams from the western United States comprised of today’s best college baseball players. Here, he earned first-team honors as an outfielder.
