Although I enjoy a happy ending as much as the next person, Garry Marshall’s (Georgia Rules) “Valentine’s Day” had a few too many for my realistic mind to handle. If the movie was seeking to portray a typical Valentine’s Day, I doubt everyone would conveniently find their soulmates by the end of the day.

Most films about romantic relationships fall into two categories. The first is filled with sappy, overly dramatic and downright depressing movies, like “The Notebook.” The second category consists of all those annoying rom-coms, such as any Hugh Grant film, that are not only incredibly unrealistic with their fairy-tale endings, but awfully annoying, too. But once in a blue moon a film about love comes along that is not only true to life, but inspiring and beautiful. It makes you forget about the slew of other vapid love stories you have seen. “Peter and Vandy” is one of those films.
