Last Saturday’s Zombie Crawl was awesome — except for the crowds.
The entire city of Reno (young and old) decided to dress like a bunch of fools and bar-hop the same bars that they bar-hop every week, and it totally rocked.

My only real complaint though comes in the variance, or lack thereof, of costumes. The creativity was definitely lacking. Everyone seemed to be wearing the same old costumes you see every Halloween: Spiderman, Supergirl and, of course, the officer and convict.
The packed West Second Street scene forced some crawlers, myself included, to go deep in their bag to find the cheap drinks.
We found a couple of spots that would have never been considered had the event not been as busy as it was. That being said, I can’t say that I totally regret crawling — and stumbling — into these new places.
The appeal of these niche bars, of course, is the lack of crawlers and the cheap drinks, even if those drinks are just Pabst Blue Ribbon beers. The only downside to some of these lesser-known places is the crowds they attract, mostly those who are old enough to have known the zombies that people were dressed up as.
From indulging in the aforementioned cheap beers to live music and even a dance show, I cannot say that any part of this night was on my bingo card, but it certainly will be in the future. Though, for the purpose of future intoxicating endeavors, we here at the Sagebrush will not be disclosing which of these niche spots we experienced.
In fact, the night was so much fun that myself and my fellow reporters stayed out much later than anticipated, making it back to my place of residence just before the Sunday morning sunrise.
