Early voting began on Oct. 17 and Election Day is coming up in two weeks on Nov. 3. Here’s how you can register to vote if you just turned 18 or have never voted before.
To vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age on Election Day and a Nevada resident. You can register in-person or online.
Registering in-person
To register in-person, students can fill out a voter registration form at the Center for Student Engagement (CSE) offices on the third floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union.
To register off-campus, visit the Washoe County Voter Registration Office.
When registering to vote in person, make sure you have a valid ID. Valid IDs include: a Nevada driver’s license or state issued ID, passport, tribal or military ID card or a social security number.
You might be asked for proof of residence as well. For proof of residence, students can choose to bring their Nevada driver’s license, utility bill, property tax assessment, rental agreement or proof of employment. For students living in residency halls, the CSE provides the following address:
CSE Voter Reg.
MS 0058
1664 N. Virginia St.
Reno, NV 89557
You may also register at a polling location on Election Day with a Nevada driver’s license or state-issued ID.
Registering online
If you are a UNR student who has a Nevada ID, the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) has an online registration portal. If you are already registered to vote, you can use the portal to update your information.
Students can also register online through the Nevada Secretary of State website.
If you don’t have a Nevada ID, you can fill out a paper form at the CSE.
