Una mirada a la escena teatral de primavera en Reno

Los fanáticos del teatro en vivo en Reno están de suerte esta temporada, desde visitas taquilleras de Broadway hasta comedias íntimas de reparto pequeño, la pequeña ciudad más grande ofrece algo para todos los que están dispuestos a ir a mirar.  

Para ayudarlo en su búsqueda, aquí hay algunas selecciones a la vista: 

El departamento de teatro y danza de la universidad de nevada, reno, toma un tono más oscuro con el musical de este semestre, “Cabaret”, presentado desde 24 de febrero al 5 de marzo. A medida que los nazis llegan al poder a finales de 1920s, Alemania, los eventos en un antro de Berlín predijeron ominosamente los horrores de la próxima década, con un reparto de papeles exigentes en el corazón del musical. 

“Stupid F***ing Bird“, una adaptación moderna de “The Seagull” de Anton Chekov, ancla la temporada con presentaciones del 31 de marzo al 9 de abril. El sitio web del departamento lo llama prometedoramente “valiente”. 

Aún sin un especialista en diseño y tecnología de teatro para reemplazar al jubilado Mike Fernbach, el departamento estará presentando ambas producciones en el Redfield Studio Theatre, probablemente otra vez sin micrófonos ni luces. Enfrentar este desafío cede resultados desafiantemente excelentes el semestre pasado: sus esfuerzos continuos merecen atención. 

La danza, mientras tanto, sube al escenario en el Lombardi Recreation Center del 19 al 23 de abril. El concierto de danza de primavera ofrecerá una lista de obras nuevas de la facultad y coreógrafos invitados por igual, prometiendo variedad en siguiendo con su contraparte ecléctica de otoño. 

En el Brüka Theatre en el centro de la ciudad, la comedia ética “Lifespan of a Fact”, que se presentara del 20 de enero al 11 de febrero, da paso a una versión estimulante de “Hamlet” en “When Churchyards Yawn” del 10 de marzo al 25 de marzo. “Churchyards” sigue a todos los personajes del extenso número de cuerpos de Hamlet en el purgatorio. 

Brüka termina la primavera con una tragicomedia “The Beauty Queen of Lenane” del 28 de abril al 20 de mayo. 

Reno Little Theater, en el centro de la ciudad, comienza el año con una interpretación ingeniosa de Sherlock Holmes en “Ken Ludwig’s Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery”. Rosie Calkin, una instructora de la universidad de nevada, reno, encabeza el misterio del asesinato como Holmes, desde el 20 de enero hasta el 12 de febrero. 

Para una opción más experimental, “Small Mouth Sounds“, que se presentará del 14 al 30 de abril, reúne a un reparto de seis personas en un retiro silencioso en la naturaleza. 

Por último, el Pioneer Center Downtown dará la bienvenida a tres producciones de gira de Broadway esta primavera. El musical “Ain’t Too Proud”, que se presentara del 14 al 19 de febrero, traza el viaje del grupo r&b The Temptations a través de un catálogo de sus canciones más populares. “Come From Away”, presentado desde el 28 de marzo al 2 de abril, relata una historia real de vuelos varados que tuvieron que aterrizar en un pequeño pueblo de Terranova en los días siguientes al 9/11. 

En lo que podría ser el más esperado de la serie, “Anastasia”, basada en la amada película de animación, tratará el escenario del Pioneer Center del 16 al 21 de mayo con la historia de una princesa rusa perdida descubriendo su pasado.

She is a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in New, Broadcast and Documentary with a minor in Atmospheric Science. Jordan Katz is the 2026-27 Digital Media and Outreach Coordinator. She is a junior at the University of Nevada, majoring in Business Marketing and Management. On campus, Jordan is the Digital Media & Outreach Manager for the Nevada Sagebrush and is the founder of the Nevada Women’s Flag Football Club. She also works as a Biz-Fit Mentor for the College of Business, helping new students transition into life at UNR. Outside the Sagebrush, Jordan has worked in social media and digital strategy for local businesses and student groups, experiences that continue to shape her passion for storytelling and community-centered work. She hopes to keep growing in the world of marketing and media.
