NOTICIAS DE ÚLTIMA HORA: Decano Al renuncia de su posición en la escuela de periodismo Reynolds

Al Stavitsky, decano de la escuela de periodismo Reynolds, renunciará de su posición como anunció Brian Sandoval, presidente de la universidad de nevada, reno, en un anuncio por correo electrónico enviado a los estudiantes el lunes. 

“Anuncio hoy que Al Stavitsky renunciará como decano de la escuela de periodismo Donald W. Reynolds”, dijo Sandoval en el correo electrónico. “No es exagerado decir que la titularidad de puesto académico de 11 años de ‘Dean Al‘, como es cariñosamente conocido por muchos, ha sido unos de los mejores logros”. 

Stavitsky permanecerá en su posición hasta que se ocupa; después servirá como profesor en la escuela de periodismo Reynolds. De acuerdo con el correo electrónico, en su nueva posición como profesor “podrá pasar más tiempo en el aula” y continuar su investigación. 

“Este es un momento agridulce. Estoy muy orgulloso de la escuela Reynolds y ha sido un honor servir como decano”, dijo Stavitsky en una afirmación enviada a Nevada Sagebrush. “Sin embargo, también estoy emocionado de volver a mis intereses de enseñanza e investigación”. 

Él no sabe qué clases exactamente planea enseñar, pero dice que le gusta los cursos de nivel de introducción como periodismo 103: introducción a los medios y la sociedad.  

Actualmente, Stavitsky es parte de un grupo de trabajo creado por la Library of Congress para preservar la historia del periodismo radiofónico. Tiene su trabajo de investigar sobre la historia del programa radiofónico de Nevada. 

Un equipo de búsqueda para llenar el puesto será lanzado esta primavera.

Ally Ibarra-Soltero: Ally Ibarra-Soltero is the 2026-2027 Broadcast Director. She is a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in New, Broadcast and Documentary with a minor in Atmospheric Science. She’s interned with KOLO 8 News Now, KUNR Public Radio and currently Renoticias. As the first Sagebrush Broadcast Director, she’s excited to create a program that continues for years to come. She hopes to inspire students to get more involved with news and chase after their dreams.

Jordan Katz is the 2026-27 Digital Media and Outreach Coordinator. She is a junior at the University of Nevada, majoring in Business Marketing and Management. On campus, Jordan is the Digital Media & Outreach Manager for the Nevada Sagebrush and is the founder of the Nevada Women’s Flag Football Club. She also works as a Biz-Fit Mentor for the College of Business, helping new students transition into life at UNR. Outside the Sagebrush, Jordan has worked in social media and digital strategy for local businesses and student groups, experiences that continue to shape her passion for storytelling and community-centered work. She hopes to keep growing in the world of marketing and media.
