Longtime ASUN Senator Resigns

Ally Ibarra-Soltero: Ally Ibarra-Soltero is the 2026-2027 Broadcast Director. She is a junior at the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in New, Broadcast and Documentary with a minor in Atmospheric Science. She’s interned with KOLO 8 News Now, KUNR Public Radio and currently Renoticias. As the first Sagebrush Broadcast Director, she’s excited to create a program that continues for years to come. She hopes to inspire students to get more involved with news and chase after their dreams.

Jordan Katz is the 2026-27 Digital Media and Outreach Coordinator. She is a junior at the University of Nevada, majoring in Business Marketing and Management. On campus, Jordan is the Digital Media & Outreach Manager for the Nevada Sagebrush and is the founder of the Nevada Women’s Flag Football Club. She also works as a Biz-Fit Mentor for the College of Business, helping new students transition into life at UNR. Outside the Sagebrush, Jordan has worked in social media and digital strategy for local businesses and student groups, experiences that continue to shape her passion for storytelling and community-centered work. She hopes to keep growing in the world of marketing and media.

Siena Howard is the 2026-27 Copy Editor of the Sagebrush. She has served in this position for two years and is a junior studying political science and international affairs at the University of Nevada, Reno. She currently works at the Honors College within the marketing and communications department. After graduation, she plans to attend law school and become an attorney.

Misha Fajayan is the 2026-27 Podcast Director of The Nevada Sagebrush. She is a junior studying journalism with an emphasis in sports media and film, with a minor in sports management at the University of Nevada, Reno. Misha currently works with Nevada women’s basketball as a manager and social media intern.

Elijah Uri Reyes is the 2026-27 Art Director of The Nevada Sagebrush. He is a senior studying journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. He previously worked on an independent social media platform, Channel 775, creating news reels, mini documentaries, and photography. He currently works at KUNR Public Radio with a focus on video. After graduation, Elijah hopes to continue producing multimedia content.

Riley Lantow is the 2026-27 Opinion Editor of The Nevada Sagebrush. He previously served as a staff writer for the publication and is a sophomore studying journalism and history at the University of Nevada, Reno. Riley has worked for the Sagebrush covering politics, sports and other local happenings in the Northern Nevada region. After graduation, he plans to attend law school and pursue a career in the legal industry.

Olivia Spargur is the 2026-27 Arts and Culture and Lifestyle Editor of the Nevada Sagebrush. This is her second year working as Arts and Culture Editor (formerly Arts and Entertainment), but third as a member of the Sagebrush, and is a junior studying journalism and marketing at the University of Nevada, Reno. Olivia works on the university’s Marketing and Communications social media team and is an active member of PRSSA. After graduation, Olivia plans to work as a PR professional or journalist in a big city.

Max Alexander is the 2026-27 Assistant Sports Editor and Photo Editor of The Nevada Sagebrush. He is in his second year at the University of Nevada, Reno, studying journalism with an emphasis in sports media. He currently works as the play-by-play commentator for the University of Nevada hockey team and as a commentator for Nevada Athletics. After he graduates, he dreams of being a sports commentator in the National Hockey League.

Madeleine Gomes is the 2026-27 Sports Editor of The Nevada Sagebrush. She is currently a senior studying journalism with an emphasis in Sports Media and a minor in communications at the University of Nevada, Reno. Madeleine currently works with Nevada Athletic’s broadcast team as a color commentator. She has also interned with Noticiero Móvil, where she traveled to San Jose, California, to cover the 2026 World Cup. After graduation, Madeleine plans on getting her master’s in journalism while continuing work in university athletics.

Malory Shaw is the 2026-27 assistant news editor of The Nevada Sagebrush. She was previously a volunteer writer and is double majoring in journalism and Spanish at the University of Nevada, Reno. Malory currently interns at KUNR Public Radio on general assignment, covering a range of topics from law enforcement to immigration. She is also a fellow for the Latino News Network. She previously interned for the Electronic Frontier Foundation. After graduation, she wants to pursue international and immigration reporting.

 Mariel Day is the 2026-2027 News Editor for The Nevada Sagebrush. She’s a senior double majoring in journalism and Spanish with a minor in Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Mariel has interned with KUNR Public Radio for four semesters. She covers the business beat this fall semester. She has also written profile stories for Silver and Blue, UNR’s alumni magazine. After graduation, she hopes to work as a business reporter.

He previously served as Sports Editor and is a senior studying journalism and political science at the University of Nevada, Reno. James has interned with The Nevada Independent, Nevada Public Radio and the United States Senate; he currently works at KUNR Public Radio, where he covers Nevada state politics. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career as a political reporter.
