The Nevada women’s soccer team traveled to Colorado College on Oct. 5 to face off against the Tigers. The Pack gave up the lead early in the first half, with the Tigers beating them 2-1.

The first half saw two goals from the Tigers within the first 15 minutes, both from Lily Byrne, Colorado College midfielder. The first goal was scored in the fifth minute with an assist by Haley Harnisch, Colorado forward. The second scored by Byrne occurred in the twelfth minute, which was assisted by Alexis Wessler, Colorado College midfielder. Other than these two goals, neither team scored the rest of the first half, though Nevada was able to get one shot on goal while Colorado College was able to get nine.

Nevada had five goal attempts in the second half, as well as six corner kicks, though they were only able to get one shot past the Tigers’ defense when Penny Murphy, Nevada forward, scored Nevada’s only goal in the 61st minute.

In the second half, Nevada had five fouls while the Tigers only had three. There was only one yellow card given during the game to Evie Biggs, Colorado defender, in the 85th minute. Despite not allowing Colorado College to score any more goals after the first half, Nevada was unable to score after the Murphy goal. Once the final whistle was blown, the Wolf Pack lost 2-1.

This loss moves the Wolf Pack’s season record 4-5-5, while their conference record is 2-2-1. Their next game will be away on Oct. 8 against the U.S. Air Force Academy at 11 a.m.
