
The Nevada Swimming and Diving team hosted Cal State East Bay in their first competition of the 2025-26 season, where the Wolf Pack dominated the competition in a 174-67 victory. This weekend’s event marked the first annual “Reno Packs The Pool” meet, an initiative created to create an electric atmosphere
Event one was the 200-yard medley relay, won by Nevada’s Relay Group A, finishing with a time of 1:43.49. Relay A included Molly Von Seggern, Sara Mihalič, Scarlett Ferris and Evie Floate. Cal State East Bay ended up with second and fourth-place performances, while Nevada’s Relay Group B settled for a third-place finish. Relay B consisted of Keira-Lee Allot, Henley Kerr, Evie Wood and Caitlin Wham.
Nevada swept the top three spots in the 200-yard freestyle. Huska Batbayar led the way with a first-place finish, setting a time of 1:52.44. Moji Pholjamjumrus placed second with a time of 1:54.61, followed by Sally Vagg posting a 1:56.41.
Von Seggern took home another first-place finish early in the meet with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke. She was the lone Wolf Pack athlete in the event and stole the show with a 55.88.

The 100-yard breaststroke event followed, with Mihalič winning first place with a 1:05.81. Kerr and Audrey Bull took second and third place, continuing the success for the Pack.
Nevada took the top two spots in the 50-yard butterfly, along with the 50-yard freestyle. In the butterfly, Ferris won first with a 24.66, followed by a 25.91 from Vagg in second place. As for the freestyle, Evie Floate’s first-place finish resulted in a 23.89, alongside Wham’s second-place finish with a 25.10.
The freestyle competition was multiplied by two in the 100-yard freestyle. Pholjamjumrus found herself in a first-place position with a 52.99, bouncing back after a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.
The 50-yard backstroke saw Ferris finish first with a 24.84, followed by Von Seggern with a time of 26.12.
Event nine was the only loss of the meet for the Wolf Pack. The 50-yard breaststroke resulted in Mihalič receiving a 30.27, narrowly finishing first place against Cal State East Bay’s Rae Ann Dressel with a 30.14.
The longest event was the 500-yard freestyle. The Wolf Pack gave it their all in a tiresome event, with Batbayar finishing in first place with a 5:08.58. Allot timed one second off of Batbayar with a 5:09.20 for second place.
After a thrilling 500-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and individual medley took place, and the Pack once again took home the top three spots in both competitions. In the butterfly, Vagg saw herself winning her first event of the day with 56.06, alongside Wham and Wood taking second and third place, respectively. During the IM, Batbayar continued her amazing success with a 58.27 first-place time, followed by Pholjamjumrus and Bull taking second and third place.

The “Reno Packs The Pool” meet concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Pack took the top two spots with Relay A taking first place with a time of 1:36.33, which consisted of Ferris, Floate, Von Seggern and Wham. Relay B, consisting of Vagg, Allot, Mihalič and Jennifer Griner, timed a 1:40.33.
Molly Von Seggern spoke about her thoughts on her team’s performance to start the season. “I thought that this meet was a strong opener to our season,” she said. “I hope we keep that energy going through the rest of our home meets!”
The Nevada Swimming and Diving team started the season off strong with a 1-0 record. The Wolf Pack will return to Lombardi Pool on Saturday, Oct. 25, against UC Davis at 12 p.m. for the Pack’s Alumni meet.
