Nothing feels more like college than a dorm room. The elevator lines at move in, realizing the room is smaller than it looked online and, of course, awkwardly meeting your roommates.
The dorms are where your college experience begins, and it truly is a love-hate relationship. The only thing guaranteed about living in a dorm, is that you’ll have stories, and luckily for you, our editors here at The Nevada Sagebrush have a few.

The kind of stuff you hear at midnight when the most important test of your life is in the morning.
“During my freshman year, I was studying with my friends in one of Argenta’s study rooms. My friend and I then went out to the bathroom on our way back. I told her we should prank our other friend and tell her that the study room is soundproof. So, we told our friend that if she screamed really loud inside the room, we wouldn’t be able to hear her at all because it’s THAT good. She then proceeded to make loud noises. It was indeed not soundproof. We pretended that we couldn’t hear her and she was very impressed. I told her the truth a couple of years later.” -Dixie Normous
A Peavine classic.
“There was a dead rat in my air vent. End of story.” -Squeakin King
Story from a friend of a friend.
“My friend was leaving for breakfast one morning to find a used condom on the doorknob that was in the hallway. This was in Argenta.” -Inda Butt
Congrats?
“My old roommate now has a 1-year-old who was conceived in my dorm room during opening weekend 2024.” -Heywood Jablome
Average roommate behavior.
“One of my roommates had a wet towel just sitting under her bed, and it made the room smell wet and moldy. I brought my dehumidifier out, and it was collecting water, but we never found out what was causing that until she went out of town and me and the other roommate found the towel.” -Jaq Encoax
Also average roommate behavior.
“My friend blacked out the first night of moving up here and pissed on his roommate’s desk the first day of meeting him.” -Rowlyn Bluntz
This is why you need a minifridge.
“My roommate kept a Port of Subs sandwich on his desk for over a week, giving the room a distinct #15, extra mayo-mustard scent.” -Tey Keela
The best of times and the worst of crimes. Dorm life will always leave you shocked, amused and most definitely apartment hunting for the next year.
