Esta es la temporada de que Starbucks esté abrumadoramente ocupado

Es la temporada navideña, en lo que significa que el Starbucks de la Universidad de Nevada, Reno, se ha llenado de gente que pide sus bebidas festivas. Sin embargo, la alegría navideña viene con un tiempo de espera de 20 minutos a una hora. 

El Starbucks en el campus es el lugar más ocupado en Reno, específicamente los martes y jueves. 

El lanzamiento de las bebidas navideñas, notoriamente uno de los días más ocupados del año para la compañía, fue el 13 de noviembre. La indeseada fecha se mezcló con el día más ocupado de la semana: el jueves. 

John Jarvis, barista de Starbucks, reveló lo abrumadores que son los días después del lanzamiento de las bebidas navideñas. 

“Desde que comenzó el lanzamiento navideño, hemos estado en constante cambio con toneladas de personas”, explicó Jarvis. “Nuestros tiempos de espera han llegado a ser peores, a veces más de una hora, pero tenemos un promedio de 30 a 40 minutos durante los períodos entre las 10 a.m. al mediodía”. 

Jarvis reveló que los pedidos por línea tienen tiempos de espera más largos que los pedidos en persona. Él cree que los estudiantes prefieren los pedidos por línea porque piensan que es más rápido y más conveniente. 

“Recibimos la mayoría de nuestros pedidos por línea”, dijo Jarvis. “Y debido a eso, solo tenemos una barra de ordenes por línea y esa barra generalmente tiene cientos de pedidos que a veces llegan al mismo minuto, justo cuando la gente hace el pedido a las 10:53”. 

Según Jarvis, el personal de Starbucks le ha pedido a su gerente de distrito que obtenga una tercera barra para pedidos por línea desde marzo. La nueva barra reduciría a la mitad los tiempos de espera móviles, sin embargo, lo más probable es que no llegue hasta después de que finalice la temporada de invierno. 

Por ahora, el personal tiene que soportar los momentos ocupados y Jarvis tiene la esperanza de que la próxima temporada de invierno va con suavidad con el nuevo bar. 

Aaron Piña, estudiante de último año, esperó entre 20 y 30 minutos por su taza de café antes de su clase de las 9 a.m. 

“Creo que hay un poco de ilusión por querer esperar 20, 30, 60 minutos por una taza de café”, dijo Piña. 

Piña desea que se brinde más apoyo a los trabajadores de Starbucks desde que fueron criticados. 

Con el aumento de los precios, las tazas de café tienen un promedio de entre seis y ocho dólares. Piña también cree que los estudiantes universitarios deberían empezar a hacer su propio café en casa para ahorrar dinero. 

Piña admitió que es parte de la ilusión de esperar el café y pagar los costos crecientes, pero también dice que “las empresas deben dejar de actuar como si hubiera una recesión”. 

Grace Fissel, un estudiante del tercer año, llegó diez minutos tarde a su clase porque estaba esperando su pedido de Starbucks. El pedido de Fissel también tardó entre 20 y 30 minutos. 

Jarvis recomienda que, si un pedido tarda demasiado, está bien irse y volver a buscar el pedido más tarde. 

“Si te vas y regresas y nos dices que tenías que irte a una clase o algo así, si nos muestras tu recibo, probablemente te haremos una nueva bebida”, explicó Jarvis. 

En general, si los estudiantes hacen pedidos por línea, deben estar preparados para esperar una cantidad prolongada de tiempo por sus bebidas.
