Two retired FBI profilers and a former Secret Service psychologist say the man responsible for Brianna Denison’s murder is likely to strike again – and will continue until he is caught.

But to what degree and where he’ll commit his next crime is too hard to tell as the Reno community continues to search for him.

“What may change is where it’s occurring and who the victims are,” said Gregg McCrary, 58, a former FBI profiler who now runs a Fredericksburg, Va., consulting company, Behavioral Criminology International. “Usually they don’t stop by their own volition. They usually have to be stopped by outside law enforcement.”

Hundreds of people came to a candle light vigil Friday night at the sight where Brianna Denison’s strangled body was found a week ago.

People held flickering candles and blue carnations – Denison’s favorite color – to pay their respects to the 19-year-old Santa Barbara City College student who was abducted from a house two blocks away from the University of Nevada, Reno on Jan. 20.

A celebration of Denison’s life will follow Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The service, which runs seven days a week, is fielding about 150 to 200 calls per night – about 100 more calls than normal. On Feb. 5, students were experiencing more than an hour-long delay for a ride.

The influx of calls is part of the reason why students have been getting busy tones instead of a Campus Escort dispatcher lately.“I’ve had five-minute phone calls and I’ve missed 10 calls,” said Charlie Goldner, a 25-year-old biology-chemistry major and dispatcher for Campus Escort.
